Hiring Standards

To become a Corrections Officer with our agency you will be required to meet all of the minimum standards established and adopted by the Michigan Sheriffs’ Coordinating and Training Council (MSCTC) under the authority of Section 8 of Public Act 125 of 2003.  You will also be required to successfully pass all phases of our hiring process, which includes an oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological evaluation and physical/drug test.

MSCTC Testing Requirements

Along with successfully completing all aspects of our hiring process you will need to complete and pass the following physical and written tests before we can officially hire you.  These tests are scheduled on your own time.  Proof of successful completion is required before official employment:

Corrections Academy Information

The MSCTC requires all Corrections Officers to complete a 160-hour Local Corrections Officer Academy.  Those with Prior Training & Experience will be considered for the 96-hour Re-Entry/Core Training.  Applicants hired by our agency who are not certified as a LCO will be sent to a Local Corrections Officer Academy at no cost to the employee.
