Our wonderful, dedicated volunteers contribute to our success by giving their time to teach classes, facilitate programs, serve meals, support our front desk, decorate, entertain and do countless other tasks. The 12,527 hours, our volunteers contributed in 2019, equates to a value of $307,023! Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities 


Please take a look at our current volunteer opportunities we offer here at the Senior Center Network. Can you help? Your commitment could be whatever you have to give. We take your strengths and match them with our needs.

  • Bingo Caller/Assistant: call BINGO numbers and verify winners, set up BINGO cards, sell raffle tickets, put BINGO items away.
  • Building Campaign - a "Friends of the Senior Center" group is currently working with staff to build a new Senior Center. We need all the help we can get - your time, talents and resources!
  • Fundraisers - Volunteers needed.
  • Grounds/Garden - plant and water flowers, pick up sticks, plant and maintain community garden.
  • Group Facilitators - facilitate current programs as well as new ones such as cards, games, sports and wellness programs. If you have a talent or interest in an activity that may attract others, let us know and we'll support your efforts in starting a new group.
  • Lunch Support - help in the kitchen, setting up, serving meals, cleaning up afterwards, etc.
  • Office Support (on-call): data entry, filing, register members, etc. Confidentiality and background check forms required as volunteers are privy to confidential information.
  • Party Planner - plan fun, all member birthday parties once a month and assist with special holiday parties.
  • Receptionist - answer phones, register members, greet the public, handle program registration, computer experience required.
  • Special Event Assistant: assist with planning and implementation of special events, work on day of event setting up, during, and cleaning.
  • Tech Club Assistant: assist our members with using their phones, tablets, and laptops once a month for one hour.

Top Ten List of Things a Volunteer Should Know


  1. Have fun! Life has enough drudgery; volunteering shouldn't be one of them. Giving of yourself should be uplifting and joyful. We are at our best when we learn, grow, play, and serve each other with love and respect.
  2. Find where you belong. Are you learning, enthusiastic, or approaching burnout? Are you stale, or still fresh? Check yourself periodically and act upon your honest answers.
  3. Stand back and admire. Sometimes people forget to say "thank you," so you will need to reward yourself. Be proud of your accomplishments - take time to smell the roses, hear the raindrops on the pane, feel the snow on your nose; and taste the cool, clear water.
  4. Balance is key. Priorities add balance. Balance your family, work, and volunteering. If you become overwhelmed, stress will set in and you won't enjoy doing anything.
  5. Unpaid doesn't mean unprofessional. "Anything worth doing is worth doing well." All we do, we need to do with our most sincere effort. Any less is a disservice to those we are helping, and ultimately, to ourselves.
  6. Ability, need, and desire: you must have the ability to do the service; there must be a need for the service; and you must have the desire to be of service.
  7. Watch and learn. Seasoned volunteers can teach you "the ropes" so to speak. Observe them and follow their lead. Have confidence in the knowledge that you are capable and trainable. Balance that confidence with a dose of humility.
  8. Make a commitment. Give yourself a chance to have good days, bad days, and in-between days. If after three months you see no redeeming value, then at least you can feel you gave it a fair chance.
  9. Pick your duration. One size doesn't fit all, just like volunteer opportunities. I've found that volunteer projects come in three sizes: one-time, short-term, and "what are you doing for the rest of your life?"
  10. List your dreams and talents. Where do you excel? What have you always dreamed of doing? What do you really enjoy, or would like to try? Is there a way to prepare, learn, or try it as a volunteer?
