About Us

Our Purpose

  • Making Longer Lives, Better Lives
Our purpose is to meet the social, recreational, and educational needs of members, in an environment that is fun, safe, inclusive, and courteous for all.

Our centers will provide an environment for programs designed to provide adults of the Grand Traverse area the opportunities and tools for personal growth and self-fulfillment.

Governance

The Grand Traverse County Senior Center Network is the under Grand Traverse County Department of Parks and Recreation (GTCPR). The Senior Center Network includes the Traverse City Senior Center and satellite programming in Interlochen, Kingsley, and Fife Lake. As part of Parks, we are governed by a Board that is appointed by the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners.

Funding

The Senior Center Network is funded in large part by a 0.1 of a mill supported by the voters of Grand Traverse County. This millage was proposed and passed in 2016. Thank you to the voters of the County who supported our efforts to sustain programming for older adults. This millage will be up for renewal in 2022.

Funding is also provided by grants, donations, and fees for services. Tax-deductible contributions can be made payable to the GTCPR and can be designated for a specific purpose or for general operations.
