Drug Enforcement

The Grand Traverse County Prosecutor's Office prosecutes various types of cases involving controlled substances, including possession of controlled substances, the manufacture or delivery of controlled substances, and investigations involving organizations that control narcotic operations.

TNT
The Prosecutor's Office works closely with the Traverse Narcotics Team (TNT). TNT is a multi-jurisdictional task force composed of detectives from various police agencies in Northwest Michigan.

Drug Offenses
The Prosecuting Attorney considers drug offenses a serious public safety concern. Many larceny, theft and retail fraud crimes are directly tied to the use and abuse of drugs. Out of town drug dealers are also targeting the Traverse City area as a prime location to distribute narcotics. This is because cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and other drugs are sold in this community at a significantly higher rate than in larger cities like Detroit, Saginaw and Flint.

Prosecuting Criminals
Working with TNT and other area law enforcement officials, the Grand Traverse County Prosecuting Attorney has prosecuted several large scale drug dealers, and will continue to focus its resources on prosecuting such criminals. This is done with the goal of not only disrupting drug trafficking organizations but to send a message to those individuals who bring drugs into this community that they will be subject to a thorough investigation, a vigorous prosecution, and ultimately serve a lengthy prison sentence.
