Fees

Fees are based on a client's income and vary by program.  See the individual service you are interested in, to find out what (if any) fees are charged for that service.


Important

Please Note:  Presently we have waiting lists for most of our  services.  Some services have lengthy waiting lists.  


Eligibility Requirements

To enroll in Commission on Aging Programs you must:
  • Be 60 years of age or older
  • Be a resident of Grand Traverse County
  • For Services that benefit the entire household, (House Cleaning, Lawn Maintenance/Leaf Removal, Snow Removal, and certain Senior Assistance Requests), no one under the age of 60 can be living in the household, unless they are disabled or a dependent under the age of 18.  Proof of disability is required.  

Enrollment Steps

Please complete the New Client Application (PDF File), either by;

    • Printing and filling it out by hand.
    • OR, download the pdf, fill it out, save it to your computer.  Upload the file and return it to us via our Contact Us page, email it, or mail as shown below.

Return the New Client Application, along with;

  • Proof of residency and 
  • Proof of income
  • Clients may opt out of providing proof of income, however in choosing this option clients will pay the highest rate on our sliding fee scales.
  • Please see the last page of the application for the types of allowable proofs.

Send the application and proofs to us, either by;

  • MAIL to us at:  Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging, 520 W Front Street, Suite B, Traverse City, MI 49684
  • OR, EMAIL us at: gtcoa@gtcountymi.gov and attach your completed application. 
  • OR, fill out the attached Contact Us form and upload your completed application.

Assessment

Assessments are conducted for employee provided in-home services.  When we have program openings, clients will be scheduled for an in-home assessment.  

Assessments are not conducted for those clients receiving only transportation coupons, BATA passes, Medication or Personal Emergency Response System Units, and Outdoor Services. These clients will be asked to provide annual proof of income.
