Hockey and skating season is in full swing here at Howe Arena! We've gotten tons of the white stuff and are working hard to keep the track as clear as possible for walkers. If you see trees flagged around the property, that is because we are going to be doing some tree maintenance to ensure healthy trees that don't present safety hazards for park patrons. Lastly, if you have not come by to check out our Holiday Tree Stroll, please do! The festive trees are sure to lift your spirits and would be a great way to cap off a family drive around town looking at light displays. The trees are located close to the parking lot and are accessible by wheelchair/stroller, but be aware that on snow days it may be a little tougher to navigate. Make sure to scan the QR code in front of the trees to vote for your favorite!

The irrigation project is about wrapped up and we are on to leaf season! Be advised that there may be dust in the air as we get leaves picked up throughout the park. Other fall updates:

• The tent has come down for the season. Thanks TC Phil for the labor and storage- the tent adds so much to our summer performance season!
• Ice is down in Howe Arena and hockey tryouts have begun in earnest. You can find the Howe Arena schedule HERE
• We are in the bidding process for the improvement of the south restrooms and the pump track addition in the northwest corner of the park
• We have a very special and FREE new community event coming soon- stay tuned

We estimate that the irrigation project is about 70% complete- thank you for your patience as the Traverse Outdoor crew works quickly to wrap up this project.

The time for fall cleanup is rapidly approaching! We've been working on a few "glow-ups" around the campus (as pictured below) and are planning for a fall volunteer workbee event to really get the park to shine- stay tuned for date and details.

Just in time for shorter days and cooler weather, the lights are back on!

Work continues on irrigation throughout the park (no, it's not an army of moles digging holes everywhere). And, we'll share some "negative" feedback on the newly repaved track: "My walking partner walks way faster than me and now that there's not even cracks for her to avoid, I can't keep up with her on the new smooth surface!" 😂😂 Sorry 'bout that!

Good news for you early risers and night owls! The track walking path lights will be operational once again in the very near future. During the last round of construction some wiring was accidentally cut, so that repair is now underway.

At our ribbon-cutting on August 6 we celebrated the completion of the walking track, fitness stations, paving of the pavilion parking lot. However, we wasted no time in starting on the next improvements! We are now actively working on updating the irrigation system throughout the park and repairing the track lighting before our days shorten too much.
