Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

What is a CASA?

The Grand Traverse County Court Appointed Special Advocates are dedicated to improving the lives of children in the foster care system.

Duties Include:

  • Writing court reports and attending court hearings pertaining to the children
  • Visiting with the children, parents, family members, teachers, caseworkers, and anyone who can share personal knowledge of the children
  • Committing to the assigned case for its entirety, which can be more than one year
  • Successfully completing the CASA training offered by Volunteer Services
