Gregg Bird is the Emergency Management Coordinator for Grand Traverse County and the Past President of the Michigan Emergency Management Association.
Gregg has been involved in Public Safety since 1990. He has over 30 years of experience in the fire service, cumulating with being Fire Chief of the Galena (MD) Fire Company in 2008, and over 25 years in 9-1-1 and organizational management. His Emergency Management career began officially in 2005 when he was deployed to the Mississippi State Emergency Operations Center in response to Hurricane Katrina.
Gregg is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®) by the International Association of Emergency Managers, a State of Michigan Professional Emergency Manager, and a 2018 graduate of the National Emergency Management Institute's Executive Leadership Academy. Gregg also serves as an Emergency Management Instructor and Subject Matter Expert for the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training at Louisiana State University, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management from the University of Maryland.
