[ARCHIVED] Your Feedback on Grand Traverse County Parks is Needed

Grand Traverse County Parks & Recreation is Seeking Public Input as Part of the Development of the Michigan Department of Natural Resource Plan

(Traverse City, Michigan – Grand Traverse County) – Grand Traverse County Park and Recreation officials recently announced that they are seeking community input for the development of the County’s Park and Recreation plan required by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) to be eligible for future grant funding.

The Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation Community Needs Assessment is ready for input from the public at https://polco.us/n/res/vote/grand-traverse-county-mi/grand-traverse-county-parks

The Community Needs Assessment is a part of the development of the department’s MDNR Recreation Plan.  Every five years, park and recreation entities in Michigan review and update their Recreation Plans. A key piece of that process is collecting public input on how visitors currently use the parks and how they would like to interact with them in the future.

An approved plan on file with the MDNR qualifies Grand Traverse County to apply for grants from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, and Recreation Passport Grant Program to develop our public outdoor recreational facilities.

Residents are encouraged to complete the survey; it is estimated to take between nine (9) and eleven (11) minutes.  The survey will be available until Saturday, August 26 at 11:59 pm ET.

Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation’s previous MDNR plan can be found at https://www.gtcountymi.gov/2562/Plans-and-goals
