The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) encourages and financially assists industrial and commercial enterprises in locating and expanding in the County.

The EDC is a 11-member board appointed by the County Board of Commissioners for a 6-year term, per statute. 

In 2016, the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners presented a new opportunity for the EDC to be a voice on economic issues within Grand Traverse County, and has appointed new board member to make this an active and strategic part of moving the County forward on business development for attraction, retention and diversification.

The Grand Traverse County Economic Development Corporation was established in 1978 under the Economic Development Corporations Act, PA 338 of 1974, as amended.
