Passport Processing

We are accepting New Passport applications, by appointment only Monday thru Friday. Listing of alternate passport acceptance facilities

You can apply for routine service and expect to receive a passport in 10-13 weeks. You also have the option of paying an additional $60 for expedited service to receive your passport in 7-9 weeks.  For more information on Passport Processing times please visit travel.state.gov or Passport Operations in Response to  COVID-19.  

Passport Information

You must apply in person using Form DS-11 if at least one of the following is true:

  • You are applying for your first U.S. passport
  • You are under age 16
  • Your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16
  • Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen, or damaged
  • Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago

If none of the above statements apply to you, you may be eligible to Renew using Form DS-82.

Online processing is not available at this time, however, you are able to fill out the appropriate forms online and print to bring to our office.  We strongly recommend that you print your forms single sided, in black  & white, and fill the entire page. 

Please bring ALL items listed below with you-

  • Applicants under 16- please visit travel.state.gov for more requirements
  • Passport Application
  • Passport Photo(Photos can be taken on site for $10)
  • Check or Money Order (one per application that is being processed)
  • Certified Birth Certificate
  • Previous Passport
  • Identification(Drivers License, State ID, ect.)

Passport Payments

Two separate payments are required.  One payment is for the passport application fee and the other is for the processing fee. See the fee chart below. 


Passport Application fee must be in the form of a check or money order payable to the US Department of State. Starter checks, cash, or credit cards cannot be accepted at our facility for passport application fees. Note: If you are having more than one passport processed you are required to have a separate check for each passport application fee being processed.PASSPORT

Passport Processing fees are payable to the Grand Traverse County Treasurer. We accept check, cash, or credit card (fees apply) for processing fees. If you are having more than one passport processed we can combine all processing fees into one payment.

Passport photos

Photos can be taken on site for $10.  Or photos are available at most pharmacies and photo labs, Walgreens, UPS Store, ect.  Bringing our own photo may speed up your appointment

*Expedite fees listed are inclusive of overnight mailing/overnight delivery return services.  Please note that overnight delivery return service cannot be used for the mailing of passport cards.
